New `57 ribbon bar - RK awarded BW General

Mounted on the uniform of a Brigadegeneral another `57er ribbon bar came to my collection ... maybe a not so nice combination as the DKiG winning Oberst .i.G. this grouping is also named and is related to Wilhelm Renner, who earned his RK in the rank of an Olt on may the 8th 1940 while comanding the 8th company of SchtzRg 2. Of his later career I do not know anything up to now, maybe I have some spare time to do some research later on ... the uniform seems to be his everyday uniform as it is well worn. Its a privat purchased jacket which was upgraded after his promotion from Oberst to Brigadegeneral (there is some remaining green (!) thread from the collar tabs) and modernised from pointed to rounded schoulderboards (clearly visible from the not correct matching colour of the boards...) As all pieces are aged and stained together it does not look like a modern Frankenstein-creation to me ...
As this is the 1957er forum here some pictures of the ribbon ... sorry for the not so good quality of some pictures, I was a bit in a hurry (as usual...)

        Hi Jens!!!
Thats a great looking ribbon bar, and displays very well on the uniform jacket!!
A nice combination of awards, i especially like the foreign ones, is the first one Finnish? and the Romanian anti-communist, they make the bar a little different!!!
I hope you can find out more about Renner, both his later wartime and postwar career!!
        Thanks for showing!!!

Thanks for your kind words !

Rüdiger, this uniform was a kind of "must have" as any kind of general uniform was missing in my collection. I´m collecting field gear and BW motorbikes for over ten years but went into the grey stuff plus 1957er awards only 1 1/2 years ago ... so this was the my aution. General plus interesting ribon bar

Very nice uniform and ribbon bar and interesting to see that these have been modified.

I have seen this uniform for sale too and thought about taking a shot on it.
But I passed on it because I suspected that the RK mini has been added later.
I am still not convinced about that mini, although I see absolutely nothing wrong with the large bar.

Luud, the RK mini was/ is also in my opinion one of the weak things in this "grouping". It looks as if it was added to the group later ast the contemporary one was lost .... I´ll take it off the next days as the jacket has to be cleaned (to much stains on it ...). I`ll take some detail pictures of it then...

My thoughts exactly. I would love to see some detailed pictures of that mini.

It is weird that he didn't sew the RK bar together with the other bars as well.
Could it be that he didn't sew it on because he wore this bar for special occasions together with his full size RK?

It would be very interesting to see pictures of him in the Bundeswehr.

Except that mini, I really love this tunic!

Luud, to my information the combination of full size awards and ribbon bar was not conform to the regulations. I was told so after having the same idea then you ....

The most possible explanation is that the combination of jacket and ribbons is not the 100% original combination. Maybe all coming from General Renner, but not as matching set and put together at a later point: After taking off both ribbons it is visible that the the loops are of different thread ... and I`m not speaking of the upper and lower row, these are different on one level. Also there is a hole in the cloth next to the position of the RK - that indicates that the (or another) great ribbon was in this position once ...

                      Pictures will follow...

O.k. here are the pictures of the ribbons ... as stated before: The RK mini looks like a replacement. The seller of the uniform replied that he got it from the generals familiy in this configuration ...

                              Hi Jens,

I also believe that this RK bar wasn't born with the other bar.
This bar is IMO from a later period.
But it is IMO also not one of those modern bars that you see all the time.
So I don't think that someone bought a mini recently to complete the bar.

I am not sure what could have happend. But like you I do think that the RK bar has been replaced in a later period.
Maybe someone else has his other bar from a later period with a very early RK bar
